Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 12 oz. evaporated milk
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • ½ tsp. onion powder
  •   ¼/–½ tsp. garlic powder, to taste
  • ½ tsp. kosher salt, more or less to taste
  • 8 oz. shredded pepper jack cheese, freshly shredded
  • ¼ cup New Canaan Farms Sweet & Hot Jalapeños, finely chopped
  • Fresh cilantro, optional, for garnish

Serve With: Tortilla chips, fresh vegetables, or warm flour tortillas for dipping.

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, whisk together the evaporated milk, cornstarch, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt until smooth and combined.
  2. Bring the mixture to a light simmer, stirring frequently, for 1–2 minutes. Avoid boiling to keep the queso smooth and creamy.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and gradually add the shredded pepper jack cheese, stirring continuously until each addition is fully melted and the queso is smooth.
