Questions

What does Ginger Citrus Sauce taste like?
Bright citrus and warm ginger give this sauce a lively, aromatic character that can cut through richer foods without feeling heavy.
What foods pair with Ginger Citrus Sauce?
It is a natural with chicken, shrimp, salmon, pork and vegetables, and it also works well with rice or noodle bowls.
Can Ginger Citrus Sauce be used as a quick sauce?
Yes. Add it to a stir fry toward the end of cooking to coat vegetables and protein, or use it as a finishing sauce so the ginger and citrus stay bright. Pour it from the bottle for an instant salad dressing for home-made ceviche or a shrimp, spinach and mango salad.
What's the best New Canaan Farms sauce for grilling?
Our Tejas Grilling & BBQ and Bourbon Molasses sauces are a great way to add a sticky, caramelized glaze towards the end of the grilling process on meats, and our Raspberry Chipotle, Mango Habanero and Ginger Citrus Sauces do the same for white meats (including pork) and seafood. Our Hill Country Steak Sauce and Gulf Coast Shrimp Sauce shine as condiments for cooked meats and seafood.
Can I use these sauces as marinades or glazes, or are they just finishing sauces?
Ginger Citrus and Mango Habanero sauces make amazing salad dressings and marinades. Raspberry Chipotle is an incredible finishing and stir-in sauce for meatballs, brussels sprouts, glaze for baked ham and jalapeño poppers, as well as a much-loved condiment. Our BBQ and Bourbon Molasses sauces are the perfect finishing touch to pulled pork, carnitas and pulled chicken. And our Hill Country Steak Sauce is not only the ideal accompaniment to grilled meats, it's also a time-saving, flavorful addition to stews and meaty casseroles.
Do you make your sauces in Utopia?
Yes! We hand-craft every single one of our 70+ products in small batches right here in Utopia, Texas. Many of our product flavors were created right here also, by our resident Le Cordon Bleu-trained restaurateur Laurel Waters. She regularly serves Ginger Citrus sauce in her destination restaurant The Laurel Tree, and we decided that it was too good not to share, so it became a New Canaan Farms product!
I like sweet heat. Which sauces should I look at?
Raspberry Chipotle and Mango Habanero are two obvious places to start: both combine fruit with chile flavor for a sweet-and-spicy profile. Ginger Citrus, with ginger, lime, and pineapple, offers a different bright, fruit-forward direction.
How can I use a specialty sauce to make a quick dinner taste less ordinary?
A strongly flavored sauce can do much of the work for you: use it as a glaze, marinade, finishing sauce, dip, or accompaniment rather than building a sauce from scratch. New Canaan Farms sauces are designed to give you distinctive flavor with very little extra preparation. Check out our individual product pages for more ideas!
How long do unopened sauces last?
New Canaan Farms jarred sauces are shelf-stable for up to two years unopened. Store them in a cool, dry place and check the best-by information on the individual bottle or jar.
Do New Canaan Farms sauces need to be refrigerated after opening?
Yes. Refrigerate opened sauces and consume within 3 to 4 weeks.
Are New Canaan Farms sauces vegetarian or vegan?
All New Canaan Farms sauces are vegetarian, and most of our products are vegan. Check the individual product page or label for current ingredient and dietary information.
Can I buy several sauces now and keep them for later?
Yes. Because our unopened jarred products are shelf-stable for up to two years, they are useful pantry items to keep on hand. Check each package for its best-by information and storage directions.
