Garden Salad with Balsamic Maple Dijon Dressing

A simple side salad that goes with just about anything on the table. Crisp romaine, shredded carrots, cucumber, and cherry tomatoes get tossed with a quick dressing built on our Balsamic Dijon Mustard, a little maple syrup, and good olive oil. It comes together in the time it takes everything else to finish cooking, and it's just as good alongside a weeknight dinner as it is on a bigger spread.

Ingredients

For the Salad

  • 2 heads romaine (about 6–8 cups), chopped
  • ¾ cup croutons
  • ½ cup shredded carrots
  • ½ cucumber, thinly sliced
  • ¼ red onion, sliced
  • A handful of cherry tomatoes, halved

For the Balsamic Maple Dijon Dressing

Serve With: Your favorite weeknight dinner

Directions

  1. In a small bowl or glass jar, whisk together the Balsamic Dijon Mustard, olive oil, maple syrup, and water until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. In a large serving bowl, add the romaine and top with the carrots, red onion, cucumber, tomatoes, and croutons.
  3. Drizzle the dressing over the top and toss to combine. Serve immediately.

Other variations to try: Add crumbled feta or goat cheese, or swap the croutons for toasted pecans for a little crunch.
