Yes, it’s January but no need to be blue! It may be cold, the big, splashy holidays are done for another year, but we have love to keep us warm! Valentine’s Day is coming up, and it’s truly special.

I love how Valentine’s Day has shifted in the last few years from being exclusively about romantic love, to a way to express love and appreciation to whoever we please. The image above is a Valentine Thumbprint Cookie experiment that one of our daughters made recently. She didn’t have the right flour so they didn’t end up looking as perfect as she would have liked, but the action and result was a perfect expression of love to us. Love can be expressed through a homemade card, a special gift of appreciation to a work colleague, a visit to a friend or family member and a general act of kindness just as much as through champagne, chocolates and a fabulous meal.
